Attachment, Trauma and Resilience: The Dangers and Distortions of Attachment Theory
In November 2013 I was invited to give a presentation on the dangers and distortions of attachment theory at a conference organisation by Scottish Attachment in Action (SAIA).
Scottish Attachment in Action believe that attachment matters for all and "are committed to promoting better experiences of attachment to enhance our relationships between ourselves, our children and our society. We believe that improving the existing understanding of and attitudes towards attachment is essential for altering Scotland’s current record on poor health and socially destructive behaviours. Membership of SAIA is open to all carers, parents and professionals.
The presentation was well received and created a number of ongoing debates and discussions. I was therefore asked to develop the main key points of my presentation into a short video for training purposes. Here is that video and please feel free to use this in your own training and to pass on to others.
